Medical care support

Financial support and guidance for access to essential healthcare.

Project image - Medical care supportThe project related to medical care takes place in a context where access to healthcare services in Benin is strongly influenced by individuals' economic means. Medical treatments are generally paid out-of-pocket and therefore difficult to access for a large portion of the population, especially in the most vulnerable areas. Only a very small percentage of people have health insurance, meaning that most medical interventions depend entirely on personal financial resources.

Very often, situations involving people in need are reported to the NGO by local social services, which play a fundamental role in identifying the most urgent and vulnerable cases.

In this scenario, the NGO's action consists of providing direct financial support to individuals who require medical treatment but lack the means to cover the costs. The intervention therefore represents an immediate response to urgent needs, helping ensure access to essential healthcare and reducing the risks associated with the inability to receive treatment.

Concretely, the interventions may cover medical visits, laboratory tests, support for hospitalisations and surgical procedures, or access to essential medicines. Each situation is assessed case by case, in direct dialogue with the families involved and with local healthcare facilities, so that the response is appropriate to the real need.

«An immediate response to urgent needs, ensuring access to essential healthcare.»

Project moment - Medical care supportSupport does not end with financial aid. Beninese volunteers accompany people throughout the entire care pathway, from the first visit to follow-up, ensuring continuity and consistency of the intervention. In this way an unexpected expense does not turn into a worsening of the person's health or into serious family debt, giving people back the possibility to receive care with dignity.
